50th Birthday!

Hey everyone, I really hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  I sure did!  Actually, it was an extreamlly busy day for us.  I got up at 5:30am and then about an hour later we got the kids up.  Then we spent some time reading the Christmas story of Christ's birth and then opened our gifts.  Then we quickly ate breakfast and got ready for our worship servie at church.  After church we went to my in-laws home and ate lunch and opened gifts with them.  Next, we raced of to my hubby's grandma's home and opened gifts there...Our next stop was at my parents home with my sister in from out of state.  We all ate a snack and then again read the Christmas story, and opened our gifts!  By about 11:30pm we left and made the half hour trek home.  We came into the door with our arms laden with gifts and went to bed.  Thank goodness for nothing going on the next day except rest and having fun playing with all of our new toys!  All in all we had a great day seeing friends and family and rejoicing in the birth of our Saviour.  Well, that you know what our Christmas day was like...
Okay, now on to the card I just made!  This was a really simple card for my BIL who turned 50 today!  He and my sister live down in Mississippi, and I don't get to see them much at all.  But with all the comotion of Christmas and such, I just got around to making his card TODAY!  I guess it is better late than never! Right?  Oh well, I know that he enjoys getting my cards...so much so, that my sister had to hint around that it was his 50th and when his birthday was!  LOL  I think she was putting in her order and making sure I didn't forget.  Which I would have if she did not remind me.  Whew!

I used:
Blackletter Cartridge for the number 50
Stand and Salute Cartridge for the stars
Sweet Treats Cartridge for the "Happy Birthday" quote
DCWV The Glitter Mat Stack
Gray Cardstock
DCWV The Glitter Card Stock Stack
Dimentional Dots
Silver Stickles

White Satin Ribbon from my stash

Well, thank you so very much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful New Year!

Handmade Christmas Gifts!

Well, as I said in my previous post, I was busy making gifts for family members!  My wonderful hubby cut out and made the little sleds for both of our Moms and then I spent some time painting and decoupaging a Christmas card on it and put dementional snow paint around the edge of the card and lots of glitter.  Next, I put the metal stars on, and again decopauged over everything, just to kinda put a seal on it.  I am very pleased with these and I hope that our Moms will like them.

I got the inspiration for these little plaques, from an email from Oh My Crafts! blog. Since the season should be about celebrating the birth of God's one and only son Jesus, and how He was sent to be our Saviour. I knew I had to honor that in some kind of way. So this is what I came up with for my sisters and sister in laws!  Again, my wonderful hubby cut the boards and plained them down and spent some time even sanding everything for me.  My job of course was to paint and cut and adhear the vinyl word "Emanuel" and then to decopauge.  Then once everything was dry I glued the stars on and again sealed everything with another coat of decopauge.  I think these turned out pretty good!  Again, I hope our sisters will like these!

I guess you could call all this a labour of love!  I really enjoyed doing these because it is something different than the "normal" cards.

Well thank you for stopping by and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a blessed Happy New Year!
