Father's Day Pop-Up Gift Card Holder Card

Hello again!  Well I was able to take some time and make a few more Father's Day cards.  These were made for my dad and FIL.  I wanted a fun, unique to give them their gift cards.  So this card idea I found on Pinterest.  I love that site, it is wonderful for inspiration and finding tutorials too. These are very simple to make.  I do believe that I will be doing this type of card again for others!

Celebrate Dad!

Nothing like waiting till the last minute to get my Father's Day cards done and in the mail!  Yikes!  I guess, they will receive them after Father's Day.  It is the thought that counts, Right?  I love having an excuse to make cards and all the fathers around us on Father's day is a great reason to make them.  I used a lot of different things in the making of these cards.  They were simple and quick to make, once I figured out the paper choices and such.   I have about 3 more to make yet, so I need to go get busy in my little crafty corner!

2014 Graduations

It is that time of year again, where we have graduations and open houses to attend.  Next year will be my first time being one of those Open Houses that people will come to!  I cannot believe that I have a amazing young lady who will be a senior this next school year.  Where does time go?  Anyway, this year we have a couple of young men and a niece who are graduating.  This card is what I made for the young men.  Simple yet very striking in the colors.  I love it!  I hope they do too!

Get Well Wishes!

Well, it finally stopped raining for a day here.  So glad it finally did.  Just a little break and maybe we will get to see a glimpse of the sun today too.  Sunshine is good for making things seem so much better, including the healing process from surgery.  You see my SIL just recently had a major surgery and is going to be laid up for quite a while and is in a lot of pain.  So naturally, a get well card was in order, one to make her smile.  Because you know the saying, "Laughter is the best medicine"!  So I knew I wanted to make something that would make her smile a bit.  So this is what I came up with.  Something so simple yet bright and cheery!  These little band aid people are sooo cute!  They kinda remind me, of little Minions!  They sure do make me smile!  I really hope they do that for her too!

Happy Mother's Day, for our Mom's

Okay, this is the final post for Mother's Day cards this year.  Each set of cards were all so different from each other and for totally different family members.  So these two were so different and yet sorta, kinda, complicated to make.  I was trying to make a book card with less folds to keep it more shallow but yet, get that layered look.  I don't know if I accomplished doing so or not, but I am very pleased how they both turned out and I think my Mom and my MIL enjoyed them too.   These two ladies have been such a blessing to our family and we are so blessed that God chose them to be our Mom's. So I wanted to give them that dimensional look yet not to deep. And again, these images were free printable from Pinterest.   Anyways, here is what I came up with.

I have two wonderful SIL, that I love and enjoy spending time with.  Each one has a special and unique quality that I love.  Anyways, they both are special to us all, and have been great moms to some wonderful kids.  As always, I try to make them a card too.  So this year, I used free printable images that I found on Pinterest, which has a wealth of choices to choose from.  Picking just a couple can be a bit of a challenge.  I knew the look I was wanting and I knew I wanted to do something with birds and their babies with a bit of a vintage/distressed look.  I think I may have accomplished that look.  I am very happy how they both turned out.  Pretty, yet simple ...

Happy Mother's Day, Sisters!

Well I hope you all had a great Mother's Day!  I know I did even though it was very busy!  My family spoiled me and took me to my favorite restaurant for my favorite steak!  MMMMM, was it ever good!  Anyway, these two cards were for my two wonderful sisters who live so far away.  I think they turned out so pretty yet so simple!  I LOVE the Martha Stewart Hydrangea Punches.  They are so pretty and versatile.  You have many choices and things that you can do with them.  Either way they both said that they really enjoyed getting them and thought that they were so beautiful.

Steadfast Tin Solider Birthday

Yesterday was my beautiful, oldest daughter's 17th birthday!  I cannot believe that I have a child that old already.  Where does the time go?  She is growing up so quickly and is such a special young lady to all she comes in contact with.  If you ever get the chance to meet her and spend time with her, she will leave a positive impression on you, that will stick with you forever.  I am truly blessed that God chose me to be her mom.  She has a heart for God and for people.  She has so many things that she likes and loves.  One of her non-stop favorite things, since she was little, is books.  She loves to read and own books.  She is finding that she really loves the older type of books that were written many years ago.  Some of them are Sherlock Holmes and stories written by Hans Christian Andersen.  But since she got a large book of fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen, she has come to love a lot of his stories.  This is her favorite so far is, "The Steadfast Tin Solider".  Such a great story, yet tragic, but with a great moral to it.  No matter what that little one legged tin solider faced, he never gave up or wavered, even down to the end.  What a great inspiration for our lives.  Don't waver when it comes to doing what is right in life.  So because at this time this is a new favorite, and because she loves books, I knew I wanted to make her a beautiful book card.  Well, I think I succeeded at just that.  I am so very pleased with how well this turned out.  The pictures just do not do it justice.  It is soooo much more beautiful in person.  The basic idea of the card is fairly simple.  The embellishing is up to you when you make one of these, it can be simple or more elaborate, like mine.

 As you can tell, I printed 2 extras of the images and cut the ballerina and the tin solider out by hand and then used dimensional tape and layered them on top of each other.   So it raised the  main characters in the story and made them pop out of the picture.  

I just love how this came out!

Birthday, Inside Tri-Step

Hello again!  I am going to get straight to it, on introducing this card.  I found this card idea on Pinterest and could only find two different tutorials on how to make it.  Neither of them were very clear on how to make it or how to embellish it with the papers and such.  So after A LOT of trial and error and maybe almost tears and A LOT of determination.  I finally figured it out.  I ended up making several templates of inexpensive printer paper, until I got it right.  Then I flipped my template over onto the back side of my papers and traced the outline of everything, including the cuts.  Finally after all of that I was able to make it.  So I am warning you now, that if you would like to make one of these, you may want to take my advise and make templates with inexpensive papers before wasting and ruining your precious papers, (like I did).  Or if someone wants to venture into making a much more clear tutorial to help others out, that would be even better! 
 
Either way, this card was made for my niece, who just turned 18 and is about to graduate this year.  She is growing up so fast and into such an wonderful young lady.  So with all of the frustration that this card has given me, and the fact that I triumphed at making it, I guess you could call this card a HUGE labor of love and well worth it!  It did turn out really beautiful and I am very pleased with it.  Although I am not sure that I will ever make one of these again.  LOL  Then again, I do love challenges and this sure was one.  Well, we shall see!

Vintage Patriotic

Hello again!  I know, it is a miracle that I have posted twice in less than 24 hours!  LOL  Well, things are about to get super busy for me, so I have to take the time now while I have it.  Well, this card was made for a young man in my church who we had a "going away" dinner and time of prayer for him, as he left the next day to begin his journey in the US Air Force.  We are so proud of him and are praying for him as he has just began his Basic Training/Boot Camp this week.  He is such a great gentle spirited young man, that we have all come to love and care about.  We are praying that he has great success while he is serving our country and are so very thankful for his willingness to serve and protect. 
I hope that this card was not to feminine for him and I hope he liked it!  LOL
